KUALA LUMPUR: The line-up for the Special Cabinet Committee on Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) will soon be revealed, said de facto law Minister Datuk Liew Vui Keong.
Liew said a memorandum on the committee has been sent to the various Federal Ministries, as well as Sabah and Sarawak Governments for further suggestions and feedback.
“So far, everything is going according to plan and the line-up will be made known as soon as the Federal Cabinet endorses it in the coming Cabinet meeting,” he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 3).
Liew said the task of the “high-powered” committee was to review and propose measures to rectify the status of MA63 based on the current legislation.
The Batu Sapi MP said restoring Sabah and Sarawak’s rights in accordance with MA63 was part of Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto.
“It’s reassuring for both Sabahans and Sarawakians to hear Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad saying that the Government will revive the agreement made during the formation of Malaysia.
“This shows that the Pakatan Government is committed to restoring Sabah and Sarawak to their rightful position, in line with MA63,” he said.
