Body of newborn baby girl found near Telipok landfill

MENGGATAL: The body of a newborn baby girl was found at the Kayu Madang landfill in Telipok here.

A passer-by contacted the police after discovering the body at about 10.40am Sunday (May 27).

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra said they are still tracking down the person responsible.

“The fully-developed baby was found swollen, with entrails spilling out of her body.

“Medical personnel from Hospital Likas determined the baby’s sex to be female, although the time of death has yet to be confirmed,” he added.

The body was sent to Hospital Queen Elizabeth 1 for post-mortem.

The case is being investigated for concealment of birth by disposing the baby under Section 318 of the Penal Code.
