The saying goes ‘there’s no such thing as a free lunch‘ – but it turns out that’s not quite true.
Pizza Express has revealed certain customers can dine out for free – but they have to do one thing.
That’s right, the restaurant chain has been known to handover a bill that says nothing more than “it’s on the house”.
And it turns out it’s all down to good customer service.
The amazing pizza bonus has been shared on the website 10 Ways To Have More Money .
And even though some people were sceptical about it being real – it turns out it really DOES happen regularly.
One person commented on the thread saying: “I work at Pizza Express it’s called a blank bill. Awarded for various reasons.
“We don’t give them out randomly it’s for a genuine reason. Nice customers are most likely to get one.”
A spokesperson for Pizza Express was fairly coy on the subject.
They told the Manchester Evening News : “Pizza Express don’t want to talk about it publicly as they want it to be a surprise for the customers.”
A duty manager at one of the chain’s stores shed a bit more light on the situation, saying that these cheques are sometimes given to regular customers or those visiting for a special occasion.
Each store issues these ‘about once a month’.
A news story back in 2016 echoed this sentiment, when a woman who was dining alone had her card declined.
Although a family opposite, The Wilks, offered to foot the bill, the restaurant wrote the bill off.
Lisa Wilks said: “When the manager arrived, he said there was no need to worry.
“Pizza Express authorises the restaurant to give away two free meals per month and they would like to provide her with a free meal.”
So yes, the Blank Cheque Initiative exists and next time you’re in Pizza Express remember that kindness pays. And sometimes gets you a free dinner.
